Due to a series of unusual events, at 2:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon my Thursday design team was done and I had almost completed my pricing/photo taking. The fact I was wrapping up was the unusual piece – I’m typically working until 5 or even 6 p.m. getting things priced (and even then I miss any number of items!). Knowing we’d all been working since early that morning without a break – I asked if anyone wanted to go and grab some lunch.
What happened next wasn’t anything special – and yet it was nothing short of remarkable. Four middle aged women talked and laughed over sandwiches for the next hour and a half. We learned more about each other as we shared stories about our kids, our parents, our husbands. As we left I felt so grateful to have a ever widening circle of people I can share life with.
Similarly, I hope everyone who walks through the front doors at Ashley Furniture (store hours are Fridays from 1 to 8 and Saturdays from 9 to 4) senses all of the following:
- a genuine appreciation that you’ve come
- a desire to help in whatever way we can
- a hope to connect with you in a way that feels honoring and valuing of who you are
- a wish to share a few minutes of life with you to remind us both we are not alone and though this world holds an immense capacity for hurt and pain, thankfully – I believe – it holds an even larger capacity for friendship, laughter, grace and kindness
