Dear All

Since my blog was recently up and I posted a few pictures of original retro furniture of the 60's and 70's, that are available or have passed through SECOND CHARM, there has been quite a few serious requests for retro teak wooden sofas of that period, especially from my Singapore based customers.

The retro sofas have been selling very well in Kuala Lumpur. They are highly sought after by young professionals starting their new homes, interior designers, architects, pubs, restaurant and boutique owners. All of the retro sofas are of solid teak and beautifully restored to their original beauty and simplicity.

Because of the increasing demand in Singapore, I'll be shipping some of the pieces in Kuala Lumpur to Singapore within the next one month. As to the exact set and designs available, I'll will post the pictures separately by next week, after my trip to KL this weekend.

In the meantime, I just want to share with you below, some of those retro teak sofas that are available or have passed through our stores. You will be surprised by the variations to these type of retro sofas. Some come with arms, some without arms. The arm itself has several variations: curved, straight, protruding, edged etc. Some come with pencil legs, some straight legs and the later variations are curvy. Some has wooden strips (rounded or flat) for the seat and back, some with rubber insulated metal springs. Just when I thought I've seen all the designs, unseen ones cropped out and excites me. (Take a look below)

designed by Albert King, one of Malaysian's top designers.

Some of the newly restored retro sofas. They just arrived from Malacca, where the restoration works are being done. Newly restored pieces come almost weekly to KL from Malacca, usually on Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning. However, all these pieces were originally from Singapore!

Retro sofa that has arm only on one side of the chair that can be joined to another one to make a 2-seater instead of the normal fixed 3-seater. Quite rare and fun to match.

A 3-seater with vintage fabric from SECOND CHARM. Some customers modernized the look of the sofa by customizing the cushions into 2 pieces only. One long piece for the seat and one for the back instead of the standard 6-piece cushions. Another customer made a 4-piece cushions and looks quite cool. Will try to get you the picture.
