Welcome! You might have noticed our exciting news in the side bar – we’re moving! The Carol Stream House of Carpet (formerly a Frank’s Nursery and Craft) came on the market at an amazing price and Outreach Community Ministries – of which Ashley Furniture is a division of – purchased it!
Though things are moving full steam ahead – we don’t yet have a definitive move date – but hope to be in the new space by spring (which couldn’t come soon enough this year, right?).
We’ll keep you posted here on all the happenings (can you say, “liquidation sale”?) and hope to add Thursday hours fairly quickly after moving in.
But for now – we’re chugging along as usual. We’re open today from 1 to 8 and tomorrow from 9 to 4. We have a lot of fantastic inventory and would like nothing better than selling some of it to you!
Let’s take a look at some of the items donated this week:
this is a gorgeous custom leather two piece sectional with ottoman from Leather Creations in dark blue. Really in excellent condition and super comfortable. Priced $695
here’s another nice leather set – this time in a great tan/brown – though there is staining and on one back cushion of the loveseat there’s pen marks – otherwise in excellent condition – sofa is priced $195 and the loveseat $150
fabulous retro desk – finished front (as you can see from the second photo) priced $245
very nice square coffee table with glass inserts – priced $115 (and the donor gave us an extra square of glass in case one breaks)
walnut sideboard with “waterfall” front (from the 1920s) priced $325; matching walnut china cupboard is $275
this is a very cool THREE piece storage system with the middle piece a drop down writing desk – all in great shape – priced $175 for all three pieces
cool armless chair for $40
standing mirror for $50
these photos definitely do not do this sofa – in muted greens and grays – justice – priced $135
great side chair that is also a recliner! All you need to do is push back to take a lovely afternoon nap! Priced $95
my photos seem especially bad this week – sorry – this is an absolutely amazing retro credenza – it’s missing some trim around the top – priced $?? Drat! I forgot to note the price. Sorry – call me at (630) 337-1467 if interested
all this vintage dining room set needs is some love! Structurally it’s great – but the top of the dining table needs to be refinished and all the seat cushions need to be re-covered. Set included table, 3 leaves, 6 chairs and table pads – all for $150
Bassett two drawer night stand for $30; matching dresser with mirror for $85
nice micro-suede set – every piece needs to be cleaned – there’s the reclining sofa for $85; matching reclining loveseat for $55 and then the reclining chair for $35
gorgeous (in their time) Henredon cabinets – still look good but the one piece was used for a TV and the back board is partially missing – it’s priced $50; other one is intact (though a small hole was cut out for a cord of some kind) and is priced $75
this dining set also needs some work – many of the chairs are wobbly and need to be glued – set includes table, 1 leaf and 6 chairs – all for $85
try to forget about the queen size mattress in this photo and concentrate on the gray metal twin size loft bed by Dorel Home Products (or DHP) priced at $135 – you could put a mattress under the loft bed (which is why Nate put one there to show you can) or you could put a desk; dresser; comfy chair and lamp for a reading nook? Whatever you want – makes a room very versatile. There’s a built-in ladder on both ends
massive American Drew chest of drawers priced $125
weirdly – this is probably my favorite piece this week (though I love the blue leather sectional, the three piece stackable writing desk, the vintage credenza, the…) – this is a solid wood (heavy) four drawer dresser – missing two knobs and the top needs refinishing. Stands about waist height and has super nice proportions – Connie immediately mentioned it would make an excellent changing table – priced $80
and let’s end with some small but cute bookcases – priced $15 each (and there are two of them)
When I think of all the people (donors, volunteers, customers) and Wheaton Christian Center Church renting us tons of space below market value for the last eight years (yep – coming up on Ashley Furniture’s 8th birthday!) – all of whom have contributed to our success and are the reason we’re able to buy our own building – I am blown away with gratitude.
So, thank you , dear reader – and hold onto your hats as we prepare to embark on the next part of our amazing, wild ride that’s Ashley Furniture!
