VINTAGE FURNITURE - I FOUND A HERMAN MILLER EAMES TABLE!

Dear All

Good designs and good furniture are seldom missed by discerning eyes.  They recognize gems even in their raw and rundown states and grab them at the first opportunity and with creative taste, transformed them into the deserving stature that these furniture are. I witnessed so many of these creative transformations over the years and salutes the creative spirits behind them.

These creative souls are no longer captive to old ideas of furnishings,  are opened to experimentation with colours, finishings and fabrics, bold to combine various period styles without being discordant, and happily mixing and matching pieces that will create a personalized space, unique and meaningful to them and their loved ones. Watching them and dealing with them, is really a joy. And I learned a lot too in the process.

6 pieces of midcentury teak dining chairs that Marcus and Rie
unearthed from the back of our shop and get us to restore and
reupholster for them. The result is a beautiful transformation.

A pair of midcentury teak chairs reupholstered in vintage fabric for
Jeffrey Tay. Vintage fabric from Second Charm

5 pieces of mid century scan teak chairs.  The wooden frames
are still in good condition but would require reupholstery for the seats
They are really worth restoring because they are one of those
scandinavian designs that will remain as classics.
2 taken up by Jeffrey Tay.  3 pcs available.

Retro sofa taken up by Melinda together with 3 singles
armchairs of the same period.  She chose plain cream coloured
fabric for a modern, clean look.

Athalee Brown scourged through the top floor of our Kuala Lumpur
shop and discovered these cane dining chairs among stacks of chairs
and have us painted white for her.  The result is a fresh, warmth look.
Batik fabric for the cushion covers gave the set a local flavour.

A high back cane armchair given a fresh look with white coat
Part of several cane furniture taken up by Athalee Brown.

This cane footstool originally in natural light brown colour and cream
fabric has been lying around at our shop for sometime until Athalee
recognizes the potential and have us repainted it in white
and reupholstered it into beautiful velvet tufted cushion.

A lovely cane lounge chair and footstool set.  The original cushions are

Doing this blog alongside watching the election results.
