Dear All
A good friend of mine, Sherman, came over and perceptively asked : Most of your customers have retro fetish isn't it? The term is new to me (I know what fetish is but a retro fetish?) I find the term interesting and would like to attribute the originality of the term to this creative photographer and filmmaker until I googled the term and a whole string of retro fetishes came out from music, to shoes to fashion etc. I guess, my friend is more into the retro world than I am.
However, not being familiar with the term, doesn't mean that the attitude is absent. On reflection, yes, most of my customers have retro fetish. Fetish, does not necessarily connotes a negative attitude in the Freudian sense. In this case, it simply means a love, a passion for things retro. Perhaps, a little obsessive to the point of excluding other period styles, but it also means, remaining true to one's love and passion.
For those with a retro fetish, they only look at retro furniture. No art deco, not french furniture, not peranakan or chinese pieces, only retro 60's and 70's or the mid century as they often call it, and ideally in solid wood. They don't tolerate reproductions, allergic to the elaborate carvings of most peranakan pieces or find art deco and colonial furniture, a bit sombre and heavy going. They are simply and obsessively in love with the post modern looks of retro furniture, the simple clean cuts and the slender, tapering legs of most of these furniture. So deep is the love and so great is the demand, that any genuine retro pieces are fast being snapped up.
However, to be fair to my other customers, they are also many who have the art deco, peranakan, french furniture, chinese furniture, distressed furniture fetishes too.Their fetishism for the period styles that they love is no less deep than those who have the retro fetish!
Having said that, below is the list of our latest finds the last few weeks and those that came back from restoration. Hope you love them.

A solid teak retro coffee table restored for Puan Norlida. When we first got
this piece, it was really in a bad shape, all shaky and parts of the wooden

slender legs and the angled drawers. Taken up by Yeong Min. I'm honoured
