VINTAGE FINDS OF THE WEEK - SOME GOOD RETRO FINDS

Dear All

Warmest greetings from Second Charm.   Here I am, updating you on some of the newly completed  restoration and upholstery works and some of our latest  finds for the week.

We got some good retro finds, such as the half hexagon dressers on tall pencil legs and a cute matching bedside table, a 1960's solid teak pencil legs writing desk, a solid teak top midcentury round dining table, a pencil leg extendable dining table, a vintage open bookshelf.  Rarer is the tabletop trapezium showcase, ideal for vintage collectibles.

Colourful glass hanging lampshades.  6 pieces available. $45 each.
They are vintage reproductions.  But the vibrant colours should
be tempting enough.

A 3-seater french sofa that we reupholstered for Charmaine.
The wooden frame was originally brown. We painted it white and
with the vibrant orange nature themed fabric, the result is a lively piece .

Another lovely 3-seater sofa that we repuholstered for Mardiana.
The wooden frame is still the original off white. We have the same
piece in 2-seater.

The latest trend is upholstery in jean's fabric. Simplicity at its best.
The retro 60's sofa is solid teak.  This piece was done for 3 enterprising ladies
- Petrina Reddy, Nana Zubir and Joan.

A pretty match of turqoise blue and lime green upholstery  by Marianne, KL.
She was pretty excited at the end result.  I, too, love the colour combination.
Similar retro armchairs like the above are available.

Beautiful french armchairs that we reupholstred for Cristina.
We painted the wooden frames in matt gold. The fabric is lovely
pastel flowers. The picture doesnt really do justice to the pieces.
When they came back from upholstery, a couple offered to buy
them for their daughter's wedding dais.

Another lovely pair we did for Cristina. The frames were repainted in matt
gold.  The fabric is cream calico that blends well with the gold frames.
Simplicity and elegance all in one.

A pretty chest of drawers, originally in brown that we repainted white for May Yee.
The missing knobs were replaced with the white and gold peranakan procelain knobs.

A retro sideboard with  gilt edges and the characteristic pencil legs.
Restored . L37 x D17 x H43 inches. Available on 30 March

A 1950's sideboard. It is also a mini wardrobe in the sense that one
side can be used to hang clothes. We have put shelves too so that
it can used for both purposes. With a mirror on top, it becomes
a dresser too.  Ideal for small space. L36 x D19 x H41.5 inches.

A solid teak 1950's sideboard.  Will look good once restored as it has
beautiful teak grains.

A pine kitchen cabinet that I sourced for a conservation office at
Balestier road. Coincidentally, the sideboard match the pine
wooden strips of the kitchen floor.

A retro 1960's solid teak writing desk.  Unrestored as yet.
 L41x  D24 x H30 inches.

A vintage open bookshelf.  Taken by by Wee Bin who happened
to be around on the day the piece arrived.

My favourite find of the week. A lovely retro dresser.  Solid teak
on slender 5-legged pencil legs.  L 56 x D27 x H65 inches.
Dark stained.  Possible to restore to natural teak finish.

A cute retro piece.  Matching bedside cabinet to the dresser
Solid teak. L15 x D14 x H29 inches.

A retro 1960's cupboard with vintage cream formica.
With interesting gilt concave edges.  Original condition.
L39 x D22 x H30 inches.

A retro/midcentury extendable dining table.  Unextendable at 48inches in
diameter.  Extended at 63 inches in length.  Height 29 inches.

The retro dining table above when extended. Need restoration.
The joints will be properly fixed.

Solid teak round midcentury table.  48 inches in diameter.
Height 30inches. Best to strip the formica top.

Solid teak 2-layered table.  Restored. L24 x D17 x H30 inches

Rare find of the week.  A sloping glass showcase for table top or counter.

 L 21 x D10.25(bottom)and 5inches (top) x H16.75 inches.

Another view of the mini vintage showcase.

A vintage dragon pot.  No hold.  Ideal for water plants.

A contemporary wooden planter's stand.

A kid's high chair.

A grecian table leg. The other half missing.  Still, on its own, it makes
an interesting home accent especially those who go for italian
and french decor. Height 28.5 inches.  Base 12  inches.

A wrought iron coat stand.
