REUPHOLSTERED FURNITURE - CONTINUED

Dear All

Thought I share with you more pictures of reupholstered furniture and how charming they can be once given a new lease of live with beautiful fabrics. The first two pictures were taken from clothing stores at Orchard and Bugis, when I accompanied my daughter, desperately trying to get new clothes for a korean boy band fan meet!

The two sofas, somehow, remind me of the pieces of furniture that we too have reupholstered and the joy in seeing the transformation. Similar pieces like that have gone through our store and I still pick up beautiful french and italian armchairs and sofas, usually of mahogany wood, from time to time. And waiting, as I said in my last posting, for that creative someone to transform the pieces according to their individual taste and preference.

Beautiful chaise lounge that have been reupholstered in velvety black fabric and the wooden frame repainted in matt gold paint. From a boutique at Bugis Junction.

Beautiful armchair that has been painted with silver paint and sand down to give that seasoned look and elegantly reupholstered with soft velvety dark wet look grey fabric. From a boutique at ION, Orchard.

A reupholstered armchair, bought from SECOND CHARM, KL, by Prof Habshah. who simply love European furniture. Fabric of her own.

Another reupholstered piece, 2 pieces of them, bought by Prof Habshah , to mix and match with the above. Of cream, velvety fabric that is easy to blend with other furniture.

Beautiful mahogany chaise lounge bought by Puan Nazariah , waiting to be upholstered.

From time to time , we get single french armchairs like the above. This piece was bought by an interior designer together with several other pieces from us , for reupholstery.

A young advertising director who bought this piece from us, is thinking of painting the frame white and the upholstery in black fabric. Black and white theme, never really goes out of fashion.

Beautiful tufted back armchair. Upholstery in good condition and the new owner kept it as it is.

A mahogany french armchair with slightly broad lower seat. Individual armchairs, like this is fun to mix and match with other furniture.

A pair of low italian chairs. The furniture maker label in brass is screwed to the chairs

Since my last posting on "Reupholstered Furniture and the Creative Imagination", quite a few enquired, as to where my regular customers get their upholstered fabric. Let me share with you. Most of them in Kuala Lumpur, got them from KAMDAR stores, either from SS2, Midvalley or from Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman. Kamdar, has good choice of upholstery fabrics and for very good price. A few others got them from MACY or IKEA.

For my Singapore customers, try to visit KAMDAR store in Johore Bahru. In Singapore, try IKEA and Spotlight. Interior designers and curtain makers shops also carry good quality upholstery fabrics You may need to order and they are usually quite expensive. I know one or two, ordered from the internet. At SECOND CHARM, we still have a few choices of vintage fabric of the 70's. They are more suitable for retro furniture, though.

To those who love to have a stamp of their individuality, have fun with reupholstery.

Warmest regards
Sharifah
